Kiwi Lass Returns To Scotland And Goes Further And Farther
In 2016, I left my home in New Zealand and embarked on a journey to Scotland. I had always been fascinated by the country's rich history, culture, and stunning landscapes, and I was eager to explore it for myself.
I spent the first few months of my trip exploring the major cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow. I visited iconic landmarks like Edinburgh Castle and the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. I also took the opportunity to sample the local cuisine, which I found to be surprisingly delicious.

After a few months in the cities, I decided to venture further afield. I rented a car and drove through the Highlands, stopping at picturesque villages and historic sites along the way. I hiked through the Cairngorms National Park, marveling at the stunning scenery. And I even visited the Isle of Skye, which is often referred to as the "Misty Isle" because of its frequent fog.
One of the highlights of my trip was visiting the Loch Ness. I had always been intrigued by the legend of the Loch Ness Monster, and I couldn't resist taking a boat tour of the lake. While I didn't see any monsters, I did enjoy the beautiful scenery and the opportunity to learn more about the local folklore.
I also spent some time exploring Scotland's islands. I visited the Isle of Mull, which is known for its beautiful beaches and rugged coastline. And I took a ferry to the Isle of Arran, which is home to a variety of walking trails and wildlife.
In addition to exploring Scotland's natural beauty, I also took the opportunity to learn more about its history and culture. I visited several museums and historic sites, and I read a number of books about Scotland's past. I was particularly interested in the Jacobite Rebellion, which was a series of uprisings against the British government in the 18th century.
After spending a year in Scotland, I decided to return home to New Zealand. However, I knew that I would never forget my time in Scotland. I had fallen in love with the country's beauty, history, and people. And I was grateful for the opportunity to have experienced it all firsthand.
Since returning home, I have often thought about going back to Scotland. I would love to explore more of the country's hidden gems and uncover more of its rich history and culture. And I know that one day, I will.
