Early Life and Activism:

Born in 1965 in Detroit, Michigan, Bryant grew up witnessing firsthand the systemic racism and social injustices prevalent in her community. Her parents, both civil rights activists, instilled in her a deep passion for justice. At a young age, she became involved in community activism, organizing and leading demonstrations against police brutality and racial discrimination.

Advocacy for Victims of Police Brutality:

In 2016, Bryant's life took a tragic turn when her unarmed son, Darius Stewart, was fatally shot by police during a routine traffic stop. Devastated by the loss of her child, she refused to let his memory fade. Instead, she embarked on a relentless quest for justice.

Bryant founded the organization "Hugs for Justice," which provides support and advocacy to victims of police brutality and their families. She has tirelessly campaigned for police accountability and the implementation of fair and just criminal justice policies.

Empowerment through Representation:

Beyond her advocacy work, Bryant has also played a pivotal role in promoting diversity and representation in government. She ran for Detroit City Council in 2017, becoming the first Black woman to serve in this capacity in over two decades.
