Jerry Lawler was born in Memphis, Tennessee, on November 29, 1949. He began his professional wrestling career in 1970, and quickly became one of the most popular wrestlers in the Memphis area. In 1983, he signed with the WWE, where he became a household name.
Lawler is best known for his feud with Andy Kaufman, which culminated in a match at the 1982 Memphis Wrestling Mid-Southern Coliseum. The match was a huge success, and helped to make Lawler a national star.
Lawler retired from wrestling in 1998, but he continued to work for the WWE as a commentator. He is currently one of the most popular commentators in the WWE, and is known for his signature catchphrase, "Puppies!"
